or, a walk through my History.
1. Jackassworld, the website. Trying to assess the current status of the Jackass boys, for my psychology class. Topic: how have role models of masculinity changed?
2. Weed identification. I have this purple flowery stuff carpeting the backyard. What is it, and is it edible? Turns out it is Red Deadnettle, and yes, it is. Even found a recipe for a Deadnettle Smoothie. Who knew?
3. Tips for cooking grassfed beef. Made my first pot roast of my life. That might be weird for a 35 year old, after all I'm coming up on my 10 year anniversary of being an omnivore.
4. Casting speculations for Y: The Last Man, the movie. I finished book 10 this week, finishing off the series. Very satisfying. It's this graphic novel I've been reading over the past year, checking them out of the library. Kind of a post-apocalyptic theme, a deadly virus kills off every man on the planet but one. Doesn't sound like they'll get the casting right in the movie, it'll probably be a big disappointment but I'll see it anyway.
5. Stuff about building brick retaining walls, for our little home landscaping project, a couple of terraced flower beds in front. Wow, I'm impressed that Jason looked up all this stuff. He acted very casual about it, like he does masonry in his sleep. The history reveals the truth. Sweet man.
6. Art therapy case studies. I'm searching around for a topic for my term project for psych class. Starting with reading about art therapy, wondering how it could be applied to a high school classroom.
7. Various books on amazon and paperbackswap. Looking for a follow-up to the first Harry Potter book, for our read-aloud bedtime book. Yes, I am officially the last person in the western world to discover Harry Potter, so it's no big announcement to say we loved it. I can't figure out why, either, there's some quality about it I can't define that makes other books feel flat when I try to read them afterwards. Oh, yes, I know technically I could follow it up with the next 5 Harry Potter books, but I like to change it up, I'm not a read the whole series at once kind of person.

Maxine is not too young for Anne of Green Gables. But maybe you've already read it.
I also read the American Girl books to my girls when they were about Maxine's age.
Good suggestion. We haven't read Anne yet.
I think it works because it is a great series - and it's totally different from Harry Potter.
Yeah, we started The Midwife's Apprentice, a really depressing book set in the middle ages. The middle ages how they actually were - where everyone is mean and hates life. So, its kind of a downer, and I think we need to change it up, fast.
