Who is cuter in this picture, my cute sister or my cute baby? I can't decide.
My sister Blythe and my nephew Duncan were here for a week last week. The timing ended up being great, I still need help but could get out and do a few things with them around St. Louis. It was so nice to have someone else to hold baby, since apparently I have another baby who likes to be carried 24-7. No matter what she was doing, if I put Ivan in her hands for a minute my sister would start singing and loving on him. We both commented that its a shame our society isn't organized around the extended family anymore. It would be so natural to have many loved ones around to pass the baby to.
Now that they're gone and the initial post-partum stage is over, we're focused on settling in. Jason has the car most days for work, so life has the potential to be isolating. But in some respect its nice to slow down - reading, lounging with babe, a few power housework sessions when I get a minute. And I'm thankful I have so many great friends here to break the monotony when I need to.
